I found free wi-fi increasingly easy to find last year. Not just airports and McDonalds - but many cafes, shopping malls and office buildings. What was your experience?
When organising meetings or planning to sit at the laptop away from the office, I noticed myself gravitating towards those cafes and office buildings that offered it.
These directories provide a list for starters :: http://www.wififreespot.com/aus.html and http://www.free-hotspot.com/
If you run a business that could offer it, check it out. If you don’t – use the idea to come up with something of value you COULD offer to your customers. Something they’d be using anyway. Something that will save them time and effort if provided by you. It doesn’t have to relate to your business. As long as it shows your customer that you know how THEY work and what would make their day easier.
Any ideas?

certainly a hot topic (sorry ’bout that!)
good article from the weekend re Melb CBD going wi-fi here: http://bit.ly/4ZEX32
That is a great idea! With Wi-Fi popping up in so many places, some businesses will be left in the dark if they don’t offer it.
@mudge, http://bit.ly/4ZEX32 I am the person named as the WIFI developer. My business provided the wifi in Wodonga and Westfield Doncaster.
@Briesauce, The Melbourne City Council has turned down my application for installing free wifi in the CBD as they don’t think it is financially viable.
Some businesses just don’t understand how it will revolutionise their business and give them extra customers.
